Hobo Chocolate Cake

Ingredients:

  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ¼ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon white vinegar
  • ⅓ cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup water

Instructions:

  1. Preheat Oven: Set your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8×8-inch or 9×9-inch baking pan.
  2. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Make Wells: Make three small wells in the dry mixture. Pour vanilla in one, vinegar in another, and oil in the third.
  4. Add Water & Mix: Pour water over everything and mix until smooth. No need for an electric mixer—just stir until combined.
  5. Bake: Place in the oven and bake for 30–35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  6. Cool & Serve: Let cool completely before slicing. You can enjoy it as is or top with powdered sugar, frosting, or a simple glaze.
