Hibiscus and Lemon Tea

Ingredients:

  • 2 tbsp dried hibiscus petals (or 2 hibiscus tea bags)
  • 3 cups water
  • Juice of 1 lemon (about 2–3 tbsp)
  • 1–2 tbsp honey or sweetener (to taste)
  • Optional garnishes: lemon slices, fresh mint, or a cinnamon stick

Instructions:

  1. Boil the Water:
    • In a small pot, bring 3 cups of water to a boil.
  2. Steep the Hibiscus:
    • Remove from heat and add hibiscus petals.
    • Let steep for 5–10 minutes depending on how strong you like it.
  3. Strain & Sweeten:
    • Strain out the petals (or remove tea bags).
    • Stir in lemon juice and honey or sweetener while it’s still warm.
  4. Serve:
    • Hot: Pour into mugs and enjoy immediately.
    • Iced: Let cool, then pour over ice. Garnish with a lemon slice or mint.

Flavor Notes:

  • Hibiscus gives the tea a deep ruby-red color and a tart, cranberry-like flavor.
  • Lemon adds a citrusy brightness that balances the tartness.
  • Sweetener rounds out the sharp edges β€” adjust to your liking.

Tips:

  • For a spiced version, steep with a cinnamon stick or a few cloves.
  • Make a big batch and chill for a make-ahead iced tea.
  • Add sparkling water for a fun fizzy twist!
