Grilled Cheese Sandwich Recipe

Ingredients:
- 2 slices of bread (white, whole wheat, sourdough, or your preferred type)
- 2-3 slices of cheese (Cheddar, American, Swiss, or your favorite)
- 2 tablespoons of butter (softened)
- Optional fillings:
- Tomato slices
- Cooked bacon
- Caramelized onions
- Pickles
Instructions:
- Butter the Bread: Spread a thin, even layer of softened butter on one side of each slice of bread. This will be the outer side that gets grilled.
- Assemble the Sandwich:
- Place the first slice of bread, buttered side down, on a cutting board or plate.
- Layer the cheese slices on top of the bread.
- Add any optional fillings (tomato, bacon, etc.) if desired.
- Top with the second slice of bread, buttered side up.
- Heat the Pan: Place a skillet or griddle on the stove over medium heat. Let it heat up for a minute or two.
- Grill the Sandwich:
- Place the assembled sandwich in the hot pan.
- Cook for 2-4 minutes on each side, or until the bread is golden brown and crispy, and the cheese is fully melted.
- Adjust the heat if the bread is browning too quickly or not quickly enough.
- Serve:
- Remove the sandwich from the pan and let it sit for a minute before slicing it in half.
- Serve hot, with a side of soup, salad, or pickles if you like.
Tips:
- For extra crispy sandwiches, use a panini press.
- Mixing different types of cheese can add more depth of flavor.
