grilled cheese sandwich

Ingredients:
- 2 slices of bread (white, wheat, sourdough, or your choice)
- 2-3 slices of cheese (cheddar, American, Swiss, etc.)
- Butter or margarine
- Optional additions: sliced tomatoes, cooked bacon, ham, avocado, etc.
Instructions:
- Heat a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat.
- Spread butter or margarine evenly on one side of each slice of bread.
- Place one slice of bread, buttered side down, onto the skillet.
- Layer the cheese slices on top of the bread in the skillet.
- If you’re adding any optional ingredients like tomatoes or bacon, place them on top of the cheese.
- Place the second slice of bread, buttered side up, on top of the cheese and optional ingredients.
- Cook the sandwich for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted.
- Use a spatula to carefully flip the sandwich over and cook the other side.
- Once both sides are golden brown and the cheese is melted, remove the sandwich from the skillet.
- Let it cool for a minute or so, then slice it diagonally and serve hot.
