Gram’s Frozen Fruit Salad

INGREDIENTS  

  • 2 sliced bananas
  • 8 ounces cream cheese at room temperature
  • 1 pint chopped fresh strawberries
  • 20 ounces canned crushed pineapple drained
  • 2 cups whipped cream or whipped topping plus more to serve

INSTRUCTIONS 

  • Beat the strawberries and cream cheese with an electric mixer.
  • Stir in the bananas, pineapple and whipped cream with a spoon.
  • Spoon the mixture into a 13×9-inch baking pan and put in the freezer to set (this can take a whole day).
  • Let the frozen fruit salad sit at room temperature for 15 minutes before slicing and serving.

STORAGE INSTRUCTIONS:

This frozen fruit dessert will keep in an airtight container in the freezer for a couple of months.

VARIATIONS AND SUBSTITUTIONS:

Use whatever kind of fruit you want when making this. Anything from peaches and apricots to raspberries, blueberries or blackberries will be perfect. Choose soft fruits (like berries) because hard fruits (like apples) aren’t so good texture-wise in frozen dessert recipes.
