Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Ingredients:
    • Chop the cabbage into bite-sized pieces.
    • Dice the onion and mince the garlic.
    • Chop the bacon into small pieces.
  2. Cook the Bacon:
    • In a large skillet, cook the bacon over medium heat until crispy. Remove the bacon from the skillet and set aside, leaving the bacon grease in the skillet.
  3. Sauté the Onion and Garlic:
    • In the same skillet with the bacon grease, add the diced onion. Sauté until it becomes translucent, about 5 minutes.
    • Add the minced garlic and cook for another 1-2 minutes, until fragrant.
  4. Cook the Cabbage:
    • Add the chopped cabbage to the skillet. Stir to combine with the onions and garlic. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the cabbage is tender and starts to caramelize, about 10-15 minutes.
    • If the skillet becomes too dry, you can add a tablespoon of olive oil or butter.
  5. Season and Combine:
    • Season the cabbage mixture with salt, pepper, and paprika (if using).
    • Stir in the cooked bacon pieces.
  6. Serve:
    • Once the cabbage is cooked to your desired tenderness and well combined with the bacon, onions, and garlic, remove from heat.
    • Serve hot as a side dish or main course.
