2 medium-sized apples, cored and chopped (choose your favorite variety)
1/2 cup chopped celery
1/4 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)
1/4 cup raisins or dried cranberries (optional)
1/2 cup plain Greek yogurt or mayonnaise (for a creamier version)
1-2 tablespoons honey or maple syrup (adjust to taste)
1 tablespoon lemon juice (to prevent apples from browning)
A pinch of cinnamon (optional)
Salt to taste
Instructions:
Prepare the Apples: In a bowl, toss the chopped apples with lemon juice to prevent them from turning brown.
Combine Ingredients: Add chopped celery, nuts (if using), and raisins or cranberries (if using) to the bowl with apples.
Mix Dressing: In a separate small bowl, mix Greek yogurt or mayonnaise with honey or maple syrup. Adjust sweetness to your liking. You can also add a pinch of cinnamon for extra flavor.
Combine Everything: Pour the dressing over the apple mixture and gently toss until everything is well coated.
Chill and Serve: Refrigerate the salad for at least 30 minutes to allow flavors to meld together. Serve chilled.
Notes:
This apple salad can be customized by adding other fruits like grapes or diced pear.
Adjust sweetness by adding more or less honey/maple syrup.
For a lighter version, use Greek yogurt; for a richer flavor, use mayonnaise.
