Cumin Cheese Buns


  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/2 cup grated cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or your choice)
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • Additional ground cumin for topping (optional)


  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, baking powder, salt, and ground cumin. Mix well.
  2. Add the grated cheese to the dry ingredients and mix until evenly distributed.
  3. Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients and pour in the melted butter and milk. Stir until a dough forms. If the dough is too dry, you can add a little more milk, a tablespoon at a time, until it comes together.
  4. Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead it gently for about 1-2 minutes until it becomes smooth.
  5. Divide the dough into 8 equal portions and shape each portion into a ball.
  6. Preheat your air fryer to 350°F (180°C).
  7. Place the dough balls in the air fryer basket, leaving some space between them to allow for expansion.
  8. Brush the tops of the dough balls with beaten egg and sprinkle with additional ground cumin, if desired.
  9. Air fry the cumin cheese buns for 10-12 minutes, or until they are golden brown and cooked through. You may need to work in batches depending on the size of your air fryer.
  10. Once cooked, remove the buns from the air fryer and let them cool slightly before serving.
