π Ingredients:
- 1/2 lb (225g) ground beef
- 1/2 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 tbsp ketchup
- 1 tbsp yellow mustard
- 1 tbsp mayonnaise (optional, for extra creaminess)
- Salt & black pepper, to taste
- 1/4 tsp garlic powder (optional)
- 10β12 egg roll wrappers
- Oil, for frying (vegetable, canola, or peanut oil)
Optional Add-ins:
- Pickles, finely chopped
- Bacon bits
- Hot sauce or smoked paprika for a kick
π₯ Instructions:
1. Cook the filling:
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef and chopped onion until beef is browned and onion is soft (about 5β7 minutes).
- Drain excess grease.
- Stir in ketchup, mustard, mayo (if using), garlic powder, and season with salt & pepper.
- Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
- Once cooled, mix in shredded cheddar (and pickles or bacon, if using).
2. Assemble the egg rolls:
- Lay out an egg roll wrapper with one corner pointing toward you.
- Place 2β3 tablespoons of filling in the center.
- Fold the bottom corner over the filling, then fold in the sides and roll tightly.
- Seal the edge with a bit of water.
3. Fry until crispy:
- Heat oil in a deep skillet or pot to 350Β°F (175Β°C).
- Fry egg rolls in batches for 2β3 minutes per side, or until golden brown and crispy.
- Transfer to a paper towelβlined plate to drain.
π‘ Air Fryer Option: Spray egg rolls with oil and air fry at 375Β°F (190Β°C) for 8β10 minutes, flipping halfway.
