Cinnamon Swirl Apple Fritter Bread

Ingredients:
For the Bread:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 2 large eggs
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- ¾ cup unsweetened applesauce
- ½ cup milk
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
For the Cinnamon Swirl:
- ½ cup brown sugar
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
For the Apple Fritter Layer:
- 1 apple, peeled, cored, and diced (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp work well)
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
For the Glaze:
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons milk
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions:
- Prepare the Oven and Pan:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Grease and flour a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
- Make the Cinnamon Swirl:
- In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar and cinnamon.
- Stir in the melted butter. Set this aside.
- Prepare the Apple Fritter Layer:
- In a small bowl, toss the diced apple with lemon juice and brown sugar. Set aside.
- Make the Bread Batter:
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon.
- In another bowl, whisk the eggs, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, applesauce, milk, and vegetable oil.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
- Layer the Bread:
- Pour half of the batter into the prepared loaf pan.
- Spread a layer of the cinnamon swirl mixture over the batter.
- Add half of the apple fritter mixture on top.
- Pour the remaining batter on top, then sprinkle the remaining cinnamon swirl mixture and apple fritter layer over it.
- Swirl the Batter:
- Using a knife or toothpick, swirl the cinnamon and apple mixture into the batter. Be gentle, so you don’t fully mix it.
- Bake:
- Bake in the preheated oven for 55-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Glaze the Bread:
- While the bread is cooling, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract to make the glaze.
- Once the bread has cooled for 10-15 minutes, drizzle the glaze over the top.
- Serve:
- Allow the glaze to set, then slice and enjoy the Cinnamon Swirl Apple Fritter Bread!
