
🥪 Chicken Parmesan Grilled Cheese Sandwich
🍗 Ingredients (for 2 sandwiches):
- 4 slices sourdough or Italian bread
- 1 cup cooked chicken (breaded or grilled, shredded or sliced)
- 1/2 cup marinara sauce
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- 2 tbsp butter (softened)
- Optional: 1 garlic clove (for rubbing the bread), red pepper flakes for heat
🔥 Instructions:
- Prep the Bread
- Butter one side of each bread slice.
- (Optional: Rub the unbuttered side with a cut garlic clove for extra flavor.)
- Assemble the Sandwiches
- On the unbuttered side, layer in order:
- Shredded or sliced cooked chicken
- A spoonful of marinara sauce
- A sprinkle of Italian seasoning
- A layer of mozzarella cheese
- A bit of Parmesan cheese
- On the unbuttered side, layer in order:
- Grill It
- Heat a skillet over medium heat.
- Place sandwiches in the pan, buttered side down.
- Grill for 3–4 minutes per side, pressing slightly with a spatula, until golden brown and cheese is melted.
- Serve
- Slice in half and serve hot with extra marinara on the side for dipping.
🍽️ Tips & Variations:
- Use breaded chicken cutlets or leftover rotisserie chicken for convenience.
- Add a layer of fresh basil or a sprinkle of red pepper flakes if you like heat.
- Substitute provolone or fontina cheese for a more gourmet flavor.
