1/4 cup cherry juice or syrup (optional, for extra cherry flavor)
1 tbsp lemon juice (optional, enhances flavor)
A pinch of salt
Instructions:
Prep the Cherries: If using fresh cherries, pit and chop them. If using frozen, thaw them and chop. Optionally, you can blend a small portion of the cherries with cherry juice or syrup for a smoother consistency.
Make the Ice Cream Base: In a mixing bowl, whisk together the heavy cream, milk, sugar, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt until the sugar dissolves and everything is well combined.
Add the Cherries: Stir in the chopped cherries (and blended cherry mixture, if using). Add lemon juice to balance the sweetness if you like.
Chill the Mixture: Cover the bowl with plastic wrap or a lid and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or overnight for best results.
Churn the Ice Cream: Pour the chilled mixture into an ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer’s instructions until it reaches a soft-serve consistency.
Freeze: Transfer the ice cream to a lidded container and freeze for 4-6 hours, or until firm.
Serve and Enjoy: Scoop the homemade cherry vanilla ice cream into bowls or cones. Enjoy!
