Cheesesteak Taco Fries

Ingredients:

  • Fries:
    • 1 bag of frozen fries (or homemade fries)
    • 1 tablespoon olive oil (if homemade)
    • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Cheesesteak:
    • 1 lb (450g) thinly sliced beef (like ribeye or sirloin)
    • 1 tablespoon olive oil
    • 1 large onion, thinly sliced
    • 1 bell pepper, thinly sliced (optional)
    • 2 cloves garlic, minced
    • Salt and pepper to taste
    • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce (optional)
    • 1 teaspoon soy sauce (optional)
    • 1 cup shredded provolone cheese (or cheese of choice)
  • Toppings:
    • Sour cream
    • Salsa
    • Jalapeños (optional)
    • Fresh cilantro (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Cook the Fries:
    • Preheat your oven according to the instructions on the frozen fries package, or heat oil in a pan if you’re making them fresh.
    • Bake or fry the fries until crispy and golden, then set them aside.
  2. Prepare the Cheesesteak:
    • In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat.
    • Add the sliced onions and bell peppers (if using), and sauté for 4-5 minutes until they soften and caramelize.
    • Add the garlic, cooking for another 1-2 minutes.
    • Push the veggies to the side of the skillet and add the sliced beef. Season with salt, pepper, Worcestershire sauce, and soy sauce.
    • Cook the beef for 4-5 minutes, stirring frequently until fully cooked and browned.
    • Once the beef is cooked, sprinkle the shredded provolone cheese over the meat and veggies. Allow it to melt.
  3. Assemble the Taco Fries:
    • Place the crispy fries on a serving plate or platter.
    • Top with the cheesesteak mixture, ensuring an even distribution of meat, onions, and melted cheese.
  4. Add Toppings:
    • Drizzle sour cream and salsa over the top.
    • Garnish with fresh cilantro and jalapeños if desired.
  5. Serve and Enjoy:
    • Serve immediately while hot, and enjoy the cheesy, savory goodness of your Cheesesteak Taco Fries!
