Directions:
- Preheat a conventional oven to 400°F. Lightly grease one 9×5-inch loaf pan.
- In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and shredded Cheddar cheese.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the egg, nonfat milk, applesauce, and vegetable oil until smooth.
- Add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Transfer the batter evenly into the prepared loaf pan.
- Bake on the center rack for 35 minutes.
- Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then remove and cool completely before slicing.
