🍎 Caramel Apple Fritters

Ingredients:

For the fritters:

  • 2 cups green apples, peeled and diced (Granny Smith works best)
  • ½ tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • ⅔ cup milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ cup caramel sauce, plus more for drizzling
  • Vegetable oil, for frying

Optional glaze:

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1–2 tbsp milk
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract

🔪 Instructions:

  1. Prep the apples:
    • Toss diced apples with 1 tbsp sugar and ½ tsp cinnamon in a bowl. Set aside.
  2. Make the batter:
    • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and ¼ cup sugar.
    • In another bowl, whisk eggs, milk, and vanilla until combined.
    • Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix just until combined (don’t overmix).
    • Fold in the cinnamon apples and ½ cup caramel sauce.
  3. Heat the oil:
    • In a deep pot or skillet, heat about 2 inches of oil to 350°F (175°C).
    • Use a candy or deep-fry thermometer to maintain the right temperature.
  4. Fry the fritters:
    • Drop heaping spoonfuls of batter into the hot oil, a few at a time to avoid overcrowding.
    • Fry for 2–3 minutes per side, until golden brown and cooked through.
    • Transfer to a paper towel–lined plate to drain excess oil.
  5. Glaze (optional):
    • Whisk powdered sugar, vanilla, and milk until smooth. Drizzle over warm fritters or dip them for a full glaze.
  6. Drizzle with caramel:
    • Warm extra caramel sauce slightly and drizzle generously over fritters before serving.
