BEEF AND BROCCOLI STIR FRY
Ingredients:
- 1 lb (450g) flank steak or sirloin, thinly sliced against the grain
- 2 cups broccoli florets
- 1 bell pepper, thinly sliced (optional)
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1-inch piece of ginger, grated or minced
- 1/2 cup low-sodium soy sauce
- 1/4 cup oyster sauce
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil, divided
- Cooked rice, for serving
- Sesame seeds and sliced green onions, for garnish (optional)

Instructions:
- Prepare the Sauce:
- In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, oyster sauce, brown sugar, cornstarch, and red pepper flakes (if using). Set aside.
- Cook the Beef:
- Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
- Add the thinly sliced beef in a single layer and let it sear without moving for about 1-2 minutes until browned. Flip and cook for another 1-2 minutes until browned and cooked through.
- Remove beef from the skillet and set aside on a plate.
- Stir Fry Vegetables:
- In the same skillet, add another tablespoon of vegetable oil if needed.
- Add minced garlic and ginger, stirring constantly for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Add broccoli florets (and bell pepper, if using) to the skillet. Stir fry for 3-4 minutes until the broccoli is tender-crisp.
- Combine Everything:
- Return the cooked beef to the skillet with the vegetables.
- Pour the prepared sauce over the beef and vegetables in the skillet. Stir well to combine and coat everything evenly.
- Cook for another 1-2 minutes until the sauce has thickened and everything is heated through.
- Serve:
- Serve hot over cooked rice.
- Garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions if desired.
