Air Fryer Roasted Peanuts recipe

Ingredients 

  • 1 cup Raw Peanuts without shell
  • Kala Namak or Salt to taste
  • ¼ teaspoon Extra Virgin Olive Oil

Instructions 

  • Pre-heat air fryer at 180 degree Celsius for 3 mins.
  • Into a mixing bowl, add raw peanuts, salt to taste and oil. Mix well using a clean, dry spoon.
  • Once air fryer is pre-heated, toss the peanuts into the air fryer basket.
  • Air Fry peanuts at 180 degree Celsius for 5 mins. Remove and shake the basket once in between for even roasting.
  • Allow peanuts to cool before transferring to a clean, dry, airtight jar.

Notes

Ingredients and Substitutes – Raw Peanuts – Use a fresh batch. If raw peanuts have been sitting in your pantry for too long, it would be better to taste couple of them to check freshness. 

Raw peanuts have a nutty aroma. Stale or rancid peanuts will have a sour odor or may taste bitter. Also check for mold formation on the skin. 

Kala Namak can be substituted with table salt, kosher salt, sea salt etc. 

Roasted Peanuts for fasting – Roasted peanuts are a popular snack for fasting (religious reasons / festivals). Table salt and oil can substituted with kala namak and ghee / clarified butter.

Important Tip – Hot peanuts straight off the air fryer basket may not taste crunchy. Allow it to cool slightly before tasting. Do not over-roast as it may burn. If for some reason, the peanuts have not roasted to perfection, air fry for couple more minutes and it should be done. 

Seasoning Options – Peri-Peri Spice, Cajun Seasoning, Garlic Powder + dried herbs, Paprika + Lime, Indian Spices (Turmeric, Black Pepper and Kashmiri red chili)

Storage Suggestions – Once the peanuts are cool, store them in an airtight jar in a cool dry place. Stays fresh for more than a week or until they last.
