Air Fryer Greek Chicken Gyros by Tracy

Ingredients

For the Chicken:

  • 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken thighs or breasts, cut into strips
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tbsp Greek yogurt (optional for extra tenderness)
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • ½ tsp ground cumin
  • ½ tsp smoked paprika
  • Salt & pepper to taste

For Assembly:

  • Pita bread or flatbreads
  • Tzatziki sauce (store-bought or homemade)
  • Sliced cucumber
  • Chopped tomato
  • Red onion, thinly sliced
  • Crumbled feta cheese (optional)
  • Fresh parsley or dill for garnish

Instructions

  1. Marinate the Chicken:
    • In a bowl, mix olive oil, lemon juice, garlic, yogurt, and seasonings.
    • Add chicken and toss to coat well.
    • Marinate for at least 30 minutes (or overnight for deeper flavor).
  2. Air Fry the Chicken:
    • Preheat air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
    • Place marinated chicken in the basket in a single layer.
    • Cook for 10–12 minutes, shaking halfway through, until golden and cooked through (internal temp 165°F/74°C).
  3. Assemble the Gyros:
    • Warm pita bread in the air fryer for 1–2 minutes if desired.
    • Spread tzatziki, layer on the chicken, cucumbers, tomatoes, onion, feta, and herbs.
    • Fold or roll and enjoy!
