AIR FRYER BANANA BREAD RECIPE

Can you make banana bread in an air fryer? YES! This easy air fryer banana bread recipe takes under one hour to make from start to finish! Keep it plain and simple or throw in chopped nuts and chocolate chips.

Banana bread is such a classic, easy “go to” bake for many people – but depending on which recipe you use, it can take at least an hour to bake in an oven. But what if I told you that you can make banana bread in around 35 minutes? It’s totally doable with an air fryer!

INGREDIENTS

  • 150g plain flour
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • ½ tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp bicarbonate of soda
  • ¼ tsp fine salt
  • 125g soft brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs, at room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 6 tablespoons vegetable or sunflower oil
  • 2-3 overripe bananas, mashed (you’ll need 200g peeled and mashed weight)
  • 50g walnuts, chopped (optional)
  • 50g chocolate chips (optional)

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Preheat your air fryer to 160C/320F. Place a loaf tin liner inside a 1lb (450g) loaf tin. The tin I use for this recipe measures 8×4 inches with a depth of 3 inches.
  2. Place the flour, ground cinnamon, baking powder, bicarbonate of soda and salt in a medium mixing bowl. Stir to combine.
  3. Place the brown sugar, eggs, vanilla extract and oil in a separate bowl and whisk to combine everything together. If your brown sugar has a few lumps, you’ll need to mix well to break them up. Stir in the mashed bananas.
  4. Pour the bowl of wet ingredients into the flour mixture and using a wooden spoon, stir lightly to combine. Try not to overmix – stop as soon as you have a lumpy batter with no visible flour. Fold in the walnuts and chocolate chips, if using.
  5. Pour the batter into the lined loaf tin. Place the tin inside the air fryer and bake for about 35 minutes or until the banana bread has risen and a skewer inserted in the middle of the cake emerges with no wet batter. Leave the banana bread to cool in the tin for 15 minutes before transferring to a wire cooling rack to cool completely.
