Ingredients
- 8 slices bread (use whole wheat for more protein)
- 4 breakfast sausages (cooked and crumbled)
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup milk (or almond/soy milk)
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon (optional)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract (optional)
- 1/4 cup Greek yogurt (optional for extra protein)
- Butter or oil for frying
- Optional: shredded cheese (for extra protein + flavor)
Instructions
1️⃣ Prep the Bread
- Trim crusts off the bread (optional)
- Flatten each slice with a rolling pin
2️⃣ Make Sausage Filling
- Cook sausages and crumble into small pieces
- (Optional: mix in a little shredded cheese)
3️⃣ Roll Up
- Place sausage filling at one end of the flattened bread
- Roll tightly
4️⃣ Make French Toast Batter
- Whisk eggs + milk + vanilla + cinnamon
5️⃣ Dip & Cook
- Dip each roll-up in the egg mixture (coat well)
- Fry in butter/oil over medium heat until golden brown on all sides
6️⃣ Serve
- Optional: dust with powdered sugar or drizzle with syrup
- For savory: serve with ketchup or hot sauce
