How to Make Lemon Powder (Simple & Natural)

What you need

  • Fresh lemons
  • Knife or peeler
  • Oven, dehydrator, or sun
  • Blender or spice grinder

Method 1: Oven-Dried (Most Common)

  1. Wash lemons well.
  2. Peel only the yellow zest (avoid white pith—it’s bitter).
  3. Spread zest thinly on a baking tray.
  4. Dry at 170–180°F (75–80°C) for 1½–2 hours, until crisp.
  5. Cool completely.
  6. Grind into a fine powder.
  7. Store in an airtight jar.

Method 2: Whole Lemon Powder (More Fiber)

  1. Slice lemons very thin.
  2. Remove seeds.
  3. Dry slices fully (oven 170°F for 3–4 hours).
  4. Grind into powder.
⚠️ Slight bitterness—great for savory dishes.

Method 3: Sun-Dried (Traditional)

  1. Place zest or thin slices on a clean tray.
  2. Cover with mesh or cloth.
