🌿🧀 Herb and Cheese Scones
🧾 Ingredients:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tbsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder (optional)
- 1/4 cup cold unsalted butter, cubed
- 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese (or your favorite cheese)
- 2 tbsp fresh herbs, chopped (e.g., parsley, chives, thyme, or rosemary)
- 3/4 cup milk (whole or 2%)
- 1 large egg
🔪 Instructions:
- Preheat oven:
- Preheat to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Mix dry ingredients:
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and garlic powder.
- Cut in butter:
- Add cold butter cubes and use a pastry cutter or your fingers to work butter into the flour until the mixture looks like coarse crumbs.
- Add cheese & herbs:
- Stir in shredded cheese and chopped herbs.
- Add wet ingredients:
- In a small bowl, whisk milk and egg together.
- Pour into the flour mixture and stir gently until just combined (do not overmix).
- Shape & cut:
- Turn dough out onto a floured surface and gently pat into a 1-inch thick round.
- Cut into 8 wedges (like a pizza) or use a round cutter to make individual scones.
- Bake:
- Place scones on the baking sheet and bake for 15–18 minutes until golden brown on top.
- Cool & serve:
- Let cool slightly before serving. Enjoy warm or at room temperature.

- Serve with butter, clotted cream, or a little honey.
- Great alongside soup, salad, or eggs.
