Chopped Italian Sandwich

Ingredients:

  • 1 sub roll or hoagie bun (can substitute with ciabatta or focaccia)
  • ¼ cup shredded lettuce (iceberg or romaine)
  • 3–4 slices salami
  • 3–4 slices ham
  • 2–3 slices pepperoni
  • 2–3 slices turkey or capicola (optional)
  • 2 slices provolone or mozzarella cheese
  • 2 tablespoons banana peppers, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons red onion, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons tomato, diced
  • 1 tablespoon mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon red wine vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil
  • ½ teaspoon dried oregano
  • Salt & pepper, to taste

Instructions:

  1. Chop everything together:
    On a large cutting board, layer the meats, cheese, lettuce, onion, tomato, and banana peppers. Use a large chef’s knife to chop all the ingredients together into small, bite-sized pieces. You can go rough or fine — your choice!
  2. Mix in the dressing:
    Drizzle the chopped mixture with mayo, vinegar, olive oil, oregano, salt, and pepper. Continue chopping and mixing until everything is coated and evenly combined.
  3. Toast the bread (optional):
    Toast your sub roll or hoagie bun for extra crunch.
  4. Assemble:
    Scoop the chopped filling into the bun. Press it down slightly and wrap in parchment or foil for a few minutes to let the flavors meld.
  5. Serve:
    Slice in half and enjoy!
