Vegan Grilled Cheese
Ingredients
2 slices of whole-grain or sourdough bread
2 tbsp vegan butter (or olive oil)
2-3 slices vegan cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or your favorite)
1 tbsp nutritional yeast (optional, for extra cheesy flavor)
½ tsp garlic powder (optional)
½ tsp smoked paprika (optional, for extra depth of flavor)
Instructions
Butter the Bread: Spread vegan butter (or brush olive oil) on one side of each bread slice.
Assemble the Sandwich: Place vegan cheese slices between the unbuttered sides of the bread. Sprinkle nutritional yeast, garlic powder, and smoked paprika for extra flavor.
Grill It: Heat a pan over medium-low heat. Place the sandwich in the pan, buttered side down.
Cook Until Golden: Cook for about 3-4 minutes per side, pressing gently with a spatula, until golden brown and crispy. Flip and cook the other side.
Melt the Cheese: If the cheese isn’t melting, cover the pan with a lid for 1-2 minutes to trap steam.
Serve & Enjoy: Slice and enjoy with tomato soup or a side salad
