Easiest Ever Coca-Cola Cake (Only 2 Ingredients)

EASY DEVIL’S FOOD COCA-COLA CAKE

Just how do you make a Coke cake though? This recipe works great for a last minute dessert or for unexpected company, even when you’ve run out of butter or eggs!  Love that.

Just keep these 2 ingredients in the pantry at all times and you will impress everyone! That’s exactly the reason this cake was so popular during the Great Depression era.

TWO INGREDIENT COKE CAKE (YES!)

  1. Boxed Cake Mix – Devil’s Food Cake
  2. 10 oz Coca-Cola

Yep, that’s it!  Don’t you see why I was so curious? No eggs.  No butter.  No oil.  Nothing.

IMPORTANT:  DO NOT ADD any of the ingredients listed on the cake mix box.

COKE CAKE INSTRUCTIONS

Measure out 10 oz of Coca-Cola, which is just a bit less than your average Coke can.

Add the 10 ounces of Coca-Cola to the boxed cake mix in a medium-sized mixing bowl and stir ingredients together.

Pour batter into a greased cake pan, and follow the instructions on the cake mix box for temperature and length of time.

Note: Mine was 325 degrees for about 25 minutes.

WHAT TYPE OF CAKE PAN?

More often than not I just use a simple cake pan, but you can certainly step it up a notch and use a bundt pan. I adore bundt pans, but just that if you use one, you want to grease it extra good because you really want the top of the cake to look great since you likely aren’t using frosting (see my discussion below – it’s so good you don’t need icing.)

LICK THE BOWL: This is the ONE recipe where my daughter is allowed to lick the bowl – no raw eggs, so no worries for this mama. Licking the bowl was something we never thought twice about growing up, but I just couldn’t let my own daughter ever lick the batter with raw eggs in it. But I’m happy to report that I now allow her to join in this childhood tradition!

COCA COLA CAKE FROSTING?

Moist. Moist. Moist.

If you thought you might need frosting with this cake, think again. The Coca-Cola cake smelled so heavenly straight out of the oven, that I just sifted a little powdered sugar on top and served it warm.

Feel free to get creative though.

Feel free to get a little creative by adding fruits, nuts,  or other garnish.

And as for licking that bowl…
