Ham and Cheese Croquette Recipe

Ham and Cheese Croquettes are breaded and fried balls, filled with ham and melted cheese.

They are often a side dish for meals or a quick snack. It’s an ideal choice for ham and cheese lovers.

Ingredients :
2 cups of mashed potatoes

1 cup diced cooked ham

1 cup grated cheese (like gruyere or cheddar)

1/4 cup finely chopped onion

1/4 cup butter

1/4 cup flour

1 cup of milk

2 beaten eggs

1 cup breadcrumbs

Oil for frying

Salt and pepper to taste

preparation :

In a large bowl, combine the mashed potatoes, ham, cheese and onion. Mix well.

In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the flour and whisk for a minute to make a roux.

Add the milk slowly, whisking constantly until the mixture thickens. Remove from heat and add potato mixture.

Season with salt and pepper and mix well. Let cool.

Form croquettes by hand or using a tablespoon.

Dip each croquette in the beaten eggs, then in the breadcrumbs.

Heat oil over medium-high heat in a deep skillet. Fry the croquettes until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.

Drain on absorbent paper and serve hot.
