Keto Homemade Dark Chocolate
ngredients:
- 1/2 cup (120ml) coconut oil (or unsweetened cocoa butter for a firmer texture)
- 1/2 cup (50g) unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/4 cup (60ml) sugar-free sweetener (like erythritol, stevia, or monk fruit)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- A pinch of sea salt
- Optional add-ins: chopped nuts, seeds, or dried berries
Instructions:
- Melt the Coconut Oil: In a double boiler or a heatproof bowl set over a pot of simmering water, melt the coconut oil (or cocoa butter). Stir occasionally until fully melted.
- Mix Cocoa Powder and Sweetener: Once the oil is melted, sift in the unsweetened cocoa powder to avoid clumps. Add the sugar-free sweetener of your choice and stir until smooth. You can adjust the sweetener to your taste depending on how sweet you like your chocolate.
- Add Vanilla and Salt: Stir in the vanilla extract and a pinch of sea salt. This will enhance the chocolate flavor.
- Pour into Molds: Pour the chocolate mixture into silicone molds, an ice cube tray, or onto a parchment-lined baking sheet for chocolate bars. You can also sprinkle in optional add-ins like chopped nuts, seeds, or dried berries before the chocolate sets.
- Chill and Set: Place the molds in the freezer for at least 30 minutes, or until the chocolate is fully set and hardened.
- Serve: Once the chocolate is firm, remove it from the molds and store in an airtight container. Keep the chocolate in the fridge or freezer to maintain its firmness since coconut oil tends to soften at room temperature.
Tips:
- For a richer, smoother chocolate, you can use 70-85% dark chocolate as a base and melt it into the mixture.
- If you prefer a more intense chocolate flavor, you can adjust the amount of cocoa powder to your liking.
- The sweetener you use can affect the texture of the chocolate, so start with a small amount and adjust until you achieve the perfect sweetness.
