Low-Carb Ham and Swiss Cloud Sandwiches

Ingredients:

For the Keto Buns (Cloud Bread):

  • 3 large eggs, separated
  • 3 tablespoons cream cheese
  • 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

For the Sandwich Filling:

  • Sliced deli ham (carb-free)
  • Sliced Swiss cheese
  • 1 1/2 sticks of unsalted butter
  • 3 tablespoons Dijon mustard

Instructions:

For the Keto Buns (Cloud Bread):

  1. Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the cream cheese, egg yolks, and garlic powder (if using). Mix until smooth.
  3. In a separate clean, dry bowl, beat the egg whites with cream of tartar until stiff peaks form.
  4. Gently fold the egg yolk and cream cheese mixture into the egg whites. Be careful not to deflate the egg whites.
  5. Spoon the cloud bread mixture onto the prepared baking sheet, creating bun-sized rounds.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes or until they are lightly browned and set. Let them cool.

For the Sandwich Filling:

  1. Slice the cloud buns in half to create a top and bottom bun.
  2. In a small saucepan, melt the unsalted butter over low heat. Stir in the Dijon mustard.
  3. Preheat your oven’s broiler.
  4. Assemble the sandwiches by placing sliced deli ham and Swiss cheese on the bottom halves of the cloud buns.
  5. Drizzle the Dijon and butter mixture over the sandwich fillings.
  6. Place the top halves of the cloud buns on the sandwiches to create a complete sandwich.
  7. Place the sandwiches under the broiler until the cheese is melted and bubbly, typically for a few minutes. Keep a close eye on them to avoid burning.
  8. Remove from the oven and serve your keto-friendly Hawaiian Baked Ham and Swiss Sandwiches….
