Friendly Philly Cheesesteak Garlic Bread

Ingredients:

  • 1 large baguette or Italian bread
  • 1 lb thinly sliced ribeye steak (or any tender beef cut)
  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup mushrooms, sliced (optional)
  • 2 cups shredded provolone cheese (or mozzarella/cheddar blend)
  • 4 tablespoons butter, softened
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Garlic Bread:
    • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
    • Cut the baguette or Italian bread in half lengthwise and place it on a baking sheet.
    • In a small bowl, mix the softened butter with minced garlic, oregano, and parsley.
    • Spread the garlic butter mixture evenly over the cut sides of the bread.
  2. Cook the Steak and Vegetables:
    • In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat.
    • Add the thinly sliced steak to the skillet, seasoning with salt and pepper. Cook until the steak is browned, about 3-4 minutes. Remove the steak from the skillet and set aside.
    • In the same skillet, add the onions, bell peppers, and mushrooms (if using). Cook until the vegetables are tender and slightly caramelized, about 5-7 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.
  3. Assemble the Garlic Bread:
    • Evenly distribute the cooked steak over the garlic-buttered bread.
    • Top the steak with the cooked vegetables.
    • Sprinkle the shredded provolone cheese (or your preferred cheese blend) over the steak and vegetables.
  4. Bake:
    • Place the assembled bread in the preheated oven.
    • Bake for 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly, and the edges of the bread are golden and crispy.
  5. Serve:
    • Remove the garlic bread from the oven and let it cool for a minute.
    • Slice into individual pieces and serve warm
