Friendly Philly Cheesesteak Garlic Bread
Ingredients:
- 1 large baguette or Italian bread
- 1 lb thinly sliced ribeye steak (or any tender beef cut)
- 1 large onion, thinly sliced
- 1 green bell pepper, thinly sliced
- 1 cup mushrooms, sliced (optional)
- 2 cups shredded provolone cheese (or mozzarella/cheddar blend)
- 4 tablespoons butter, softened
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon dried parsley
Instructions:
- Prepare the Garlic Bread:
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Cut the baguette or Italian bread in half lengthwise and place it on a baking sheet.
- In a small bowl, mix the softened butter with minced garlic, oregano, and parsley.
- Spread the garlic butter mixture evenly over the cut sides of the bread.
- Cook the Steak and Vegetables:
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat.
- Add the thinly sliced steak to the skillet, seasoning with salt and pepper. Cook until the steak is browned, about 3-4 minutes. Remove the steak from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add the onions, bell peppers, and mushrooms (if using). Cook until the vegetables are tender and slightly caramelized, about 5-7 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.
- Assemble the Garlic Bread:
- Evenly distribute the cooked steak over the garlic-buttered bread.
- Top the steak with the cooked vegetables.
- Sprinkle the shredded provolone cheese (or your preferred cheese blend) over the steak and vegetables.
- Bake:
- Place the assembled bread in the preheated oven.
- Bake for 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly, and the edges of the bread are golden and crispy.
- Serve:
- Remove the garlic bread from the oven and let it cool for a minute.
- Slice into individual pieces and serve warm
