Fantastic garlic flatbreads

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup plain yogurt
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Additional olive oil or melted butter for brushing
  • Optional: chopped parsley or cilantro for garnish

Instructions:

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  2. Add the minced garlic and olive oil to the dry ingredients, and mix well.
  3. Gradually add the yogurt and water to the mixture, stirring until a dough forms. You may need to adjust the amount of water slightly to achieve the right consistency.
  4. Once the dough comes together, turn it out onto a lightly floured surface and knead it for a few minutes until it becomes smooth.
  5. Divide the dough into 4 equal portions, and roll each portion out into a thin circle, about 1/8 inch thick.
  6. Heat a skillet or griddle over medium-high heat, and lightly brush it with olive oil or melted butter.
  7. Place one of the rolled-out flatbreads onto the hot skillet, and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side, until golden brown and cooked through. Repeat with the remaining flatbreads.
  8. Once cooked, remove the flatbreads from the skillet and brush them with additional olive oil or melted butter. Sprinkle with chopped parsley or cilantro if desired.
  9. Serve the garlic flatbreads warm, either on their own or as a side dish with your favorite dips or toppings.
