cheese and ham fittata stovetop method


  • 6 eggs
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or your favorite cheese)
  • 1/2 cup diced ham
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Optional: chopped herbs such as parsley or chives for garnish


  1. Prepare the Eggs: In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, salt, and pepper until well combined. Stir in the shredded cheese and diced ham.
  2. Heat the Pan: Heat olive oil in a large non-stick skillet over medium heat. Make sure the skillet has a lid as you’ll need it later.
  3. Pour in the Egg Mixture: Once the oil is hot, pour the egg mixture into the skillet. Use a spatula to evenly spread out the cheese and ham.
  4. Cook the Frittata: Allow the frittata to cook without stirring for about 5 minutes or until the edges start to set.
  5. Flip or Cover: You have two options here:
    • Option 1 (Flipping Method): Carefully slide a spatula under the frittata and flip it over. Cook for an additional 3-4 minutes until the other side is cooked and the cheese is melted.
    • Option 2 (Covering Method): If you prefer not to flip, cover the skillet with a lid and let the frittata cook for an additional 5-7 minutes until the top is set and the cheese is melted.
  6. Serve: Once the frittata is cooked through, remove it from the heat. You can garnish with chopped herbs if desired. Allow it to cool slightly before slicing and serving.
