Air fryer crispy chilli beef


  • 500g beef steak, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, minced
  • 2-3 red chili peppers, thinly sliced
  • 1 bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water (for the sauce)
  • Sesame seeds and sliced green onions for garnish
  • Cooked rice for serving


  1. Marinate the beef:
    • In a bowl, combine the thinly sliced beef with 2 tablespoons of cornstarch and 1 tablespoon of soy sauce. Let it marinate for at least 30 minutes in the refrigerator.
  2. Prepare the sauce:
    • In a small bowl, mix together the honey, rice vinegar, and 2 tablespoons of soy sauce. Set aside.
  3. Preheat the air fryer:
    • Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for about 5 minutes.
  4. Cook the beef:
    • Once preheated, place the marinated beef slices in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Cook for about 8-10 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through, until the beef is crispy and golden brown.
  5. Make the chili beef sauce:
    • While the beef is cooking, heat 3 tablespoons of vegetable oil in a pan over medium heat. Add minced garlic, minced ginger, sliced red chili peppers, and sliced bell pepper. Cook for 2-3 minutes until fragrant and the peppers are slightly softened.
    • Add the prepared sauce mixture to the pan and bring it to a simmer.
    • Once simmering, add the cornstarch-water mixture to the pan and stir until the sauce thickens. Remove from heat.
  6. Combine beef and sauce:
    • Once the beef is cooked and crispy, transfer it to a large bowl. Pour the prepared chili beef sauce over the crispy beef and toss until well coated.
  7. Serve:
    • Serve the crispy chili beef over cooked rice.
    • Garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions.
