Air Fryer Chicken Parmesan

Ingredients:

For the Chicken:

  • 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (Italian-style breadcrumbs work well)
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

For the Assembly:

  • 1 cup marinara sauce
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Fresh basil leaves, for garnish (optional)
  • Cooked pasta or spaghetti for serving (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In three separate shallow dishes, set up a breading station. Place flour in the first dish, whisked eggs in the second dish, and a mixture of breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan, garlic powder, dried oregano, salt, and pepper in the third dish.
  3. Pat the chicken breasts dry with paper towels. Dredge each chicken breast in the flour, making sure to coat both sides, then dip them into the beaten eggs, and finally coat them with the breadcrumb mixture, pressing the breadcrumbs onto the chicken to adhere.
  4. Place the breaded chicken breasts in the preheated air fryer basket. You may need to do this in batches depending on the size of your air fryer.
  5. Air fry the chicken at 375°F for about 10-12 minutes, flipping them halfway through the cooking time. Cook until the chicken is crispy, golden brown, and reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
  6. Remove the chicken from the air fryer and place them on a plate. Top each chicken breast with a spoonful of marinara sauce, followed by mozzarella and grated Parmesan cheese.
  7. Place the chicken back in the air fryer and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  8. Carefully remove the chicken from the air fryer and let it rest for a few minutes before serving.
  9. Garnish with fresh basil leaves if desired. Serve the Air Fryer Chicken Parmesan over cooked pasta or with a side salad…
