Air Fryer Breaded Chicken Wings Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 2 pounds chicken wings
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (panko or regular)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • Cooking spray

Instructions:

  1. Prep the Chicken Wings:
    • Pat the chicken wings dry with paper towels. This helps the breading stick better.
  2. Set Up the Breading Stations:
    • In a shallow dish, add the flour.
    • In another shallow dish, whisk together the eggs and water.
    • In a third shallow dish, mix the breadcrumbs, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper.
  3. Bread the Chicken Wings:
    • Dredge each chicken wing in the flour, shaking off any excess.
    • Dip the floured wing into the egg mixture, ensuring it’s fully coated.
    • Finally, coat the wing in the breadcrumb mixture, pressing gently to adhere the breadcrumbs.
  4. Preheat the Air Fryer:
    • Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for about 5 minutes.
  5. Cook the Chicken Wings:
    • Lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray to prevent sticking.
    • Place the breaded chicken wings in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Do not overcrowd; you may need to cook in batches.
    • Lightly spray the tops of the wings with cooking spray.
  6. Air Fry the Wings:
    • Cook the wings at 400°F (200°C) for 20-25 minutes, flipping halfway through, until they are golden brown and crispy. The internal temperature should reach 165°F (74°C).
  7. Serve:
    • Once cooked, remove the wings from the air fryer and let them rest for a few minutes.
    • Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauces and sides.

Tips:

  • For extra crispiness, you can double-bread the wings by repeating the egg and breadcrumb steps.
  • Adjust the seasoning in the breadcrumb mixture to your taste. Add some cayenne pepper for a spicy kick.
  • Serve with celery sticks and blue cheese or ranch dressing for a classic wing experience.
