Air fryer bang bang shrimp

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Cooking spray or olive oil spray

For the Bang Bang Sauce:

  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup Thai sweet chili sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Sriracha sauce (adjust to taste)
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 teaspoon rice vinegar
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt, to taste
  • Chopped green onions and sesame seeds for garnish (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for about 5 minutes.
  2. Prepare the shrimp: In three separate bowls, place the flour, beaten eggs, and panko breadcrumbs mixed with salt, pepper, paprika, and garlic powder.
  3. Coat the shrimp: Coat each shrimp first in the flour, then dip into the beaten eggs, and finally coat with the seasoned panko breadcrumbs, pressing gently to adhere. Place the coated shrimp on a plate.
  4. Air fry the shrimp: Lightly grease the air fryer basket with cooking spray or brush with olive oil. Arrange the coated shrimp in a single layer in the basket, making sure they are not touching. Depending on the size of your air fryer, you may need to cook the shrimp in batches. Spray the shrimp with cooking spray or olive oil spray.
  5. Cook the shrimp: Air fry the shrimp at 400°F (200°C) for 6-8 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and crispy.
  6. Make the Bang Bang Sauce: While the shrimp is cooking, prepare the sauce by mixing together the mayonnaise, Thai sweet chili sauce, Sriracha sauce, honey, rice vinegar, garlic powder, and salt in a bowl. Adjust the Sriracha sauce to your desired level of spiciness.
  7. Serve: Once the shrimp is cooked, transfer them to a serving plate. Drizzle the bang bang sauce over the shrimp or serve it on the side for dipping. Garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds if desired.
  8. Enjoy! Serve the air fryer bang bang shrimp immediately while hot and crispy. It makes a delicious appetizer or main course served with rice or salad.
