WW Wonton Soup
Ingredients:
For Wontons:
- 1 cup ground chicken or pork (cooked and cooled)
- 1/2 cup finely chopped cabbage
- 1/4 cup finely chopped green onions
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1/2 teaspoon grated ginger
- 1/2 teaspoon minced garlic
- 1 package whole wheat wonton wrappers
For Soup:
- 4 cups chicken or vegetable broth
- 1 cup sliced mushrooms
- 1 cup baby spinach or bok choy leaves
- 1/4 cup sliced green onions
- 1 teaspoon soy sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon sesame oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
- In a mixing bowl, combine the ground meat, cabbage, green onions, soy sauce, sesame oil, ginger, and garlic. Mix well to form the wonton filling.
- Place a small spoonful of the filling in the center of each wonton wrapper. Moisten the edges of the wrapper with water and fold it in half to form a triangle. Press the edges to seal, ensuring there are no air pockets.
- In a large pot, bring the chicken or vegetable broth to a simmer.
- Add the sliced mushrooms, soy sauce, and sesame oil to the simmering broth.
- Gently place the wontons into the simmering broth and cook for about 5-7 minutes or until the wontons are cooked through and float to the top.
- Add the baby spinach or bok choy leaves to the soup and cook for an additional 2 minutes or until they are wilted.
- Season the soup with salt and pepper to taste. Stir in the sliced green onions.
- Ladle the soup into bowls and serve hot.
