VEGAN PIZZA
Ingredients:
For the Pizza Dough:
2 1/4 cups (300g) bread flour (plus extra for dusting)
1 tsp instant yeast
1 tsp salt
1 tsp sugar
1 tbsp olive oil
3/4 cup (180ml) lukewarm water
For the Tomato Sauce:
1 can (14 oz or 400g) crushed tomatoes
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tsp dried oregano
Salt and pepper, to taste
Toppings (customize as you like):
1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
1/2 red onion, thinly sliced
1/2 bell pepper, thinly sliced
1/2 cup sliced black olives
Fresh basil leaves
Instructions:
- Prepare the Pizza Dough:
In a large bowl, mix together the flour, instant yeast, salt, and sugar.
Make a well in the center and add the olive oil and lukewarm water. Mix until it forms a dough.
Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth or plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size. - Make the Tomato Sauce:
Heat a drizzle of olive oil in a saucepan over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.
Add the crushed tomatoes, dried oregano, salt, and pepper. Simmer gently for 10-15 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly. Remove from heat and set aside. - Prepare the Pizza:
Preheat your oven to its highest setting (usually around 475-500°F or 240-260°C).
Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into two portions. Roll each portion out on a floured surface to your desired thickness.
Transfer the rolled-out dough onto baking sheets lined with parchment paper. - Assemble and Bake:
Spread a generous amount of tomato sauce over each pizza base.
Add your chosen toppings: cherry tomatoes, red onion, bell pepper, black olives, and any other vegetables you prefer.
Bake in the preheated oven for 10-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden and crispy and the toppings are cooked.
