Nuts (such as chopped almonds, pecans, or walnuts)
Chocolate chips (dairy-free)
Fresh or frozen berries
Nut butter (peanut butter, almond butter, etc.)
Instructions:
Prepare the Bananas:
Peel the bananas and cut them into thin slices.
Place the banana slices in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Freeze the banana slices for at least 2-3 hours or until completely frozen.
Blend the Bananas:
Once the banana slices are frozen, place them in a high-speed blender or food processor.
Blend the bananas until they start to break down. You may need to stop and scrape down the sides of the blender or food processor a few times.
Continue blending until the bananas become smooth and creamy. If the mixture is too thick, you can add a tablespoon or two of plant-based milk to help it blend more easily.
Add Flavorings and Mix-ins:
If you want to add vanilla extract, do so now and blend until combined.
You can also fold in any optional mix-ins at this stage.
Serve:
The banana ice cream can be served immediately for a soft-serve consistency.
For a firmer texture, transfer the ice cream to an airtight container and freeze for an additional 1-2 hours.
