Quick Chocolate Sponge Cake Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup milk (or water for a lighter version)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a round cake pan or line it with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Mix well to combine.
  3. In another bowl, beat the eggs lightly. Add the vegetable oil, milk (or water), and vanilla extract. Mix until well combined.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Be careful not to overmix, as this can lead to a tough cake.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. Once baked, remove the cake from the oven and let it cool in the pan for about 10 minutes. Then, transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.
  8. Once cooled, you can frost the cake with your favorite frosting or simply dust it with powdered sugar.
  9. Slice and serve your delicious chocolate sponge cake! Enjoy!
