Quick Chocolate Sponge Cake Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 1 cup milk (or water for a lighter version)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a round cake pan or line it with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Mix well to combine.
- In another bowl, beat the eggs lightly. Add the vegetable oil, milk (or water), and vanilla extract. Mix until well combined.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Be careful not to overmix, as this can lead to a tough cake.
- Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Once baked, remove the cake from the oven and let it cool in the pan for about 10 minutes. Then, transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Once cooled, you can frost the cake with your favorite frosting or simply dust it with powdered sugar.
