🧁 Nun Farts (Pets de Nonne) Recipe

✨ Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) water
  • 2 tbsp (30 g) unsalted butter
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1/2 cup (60 g) all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract (optional)
  • Oil for frying (vegetable or canola)
  • Powdered sugar or cinnamon sugar, for dusting

1. Make the Choux Dough:

  • In a saucepan, combine water, butter, sugar, and a pinch of salt. Bring to a boil.
  • Once butter is melted, add the flour all at once.
  • Stir vigorously with a wooden spoon over low heat until the dough pulls away from the sides and forms a ball (about 1–2 minutes).
  • Remove from heat and let cool for 5 minutes.

2. Add Eggs:

  • Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each (you can use a mixer or just elbow grease).
  • Mix until smooth and glossy. Add vanilla extract if using.

3. Heat Oil:

  • Heat oil in a deep pan to 350Β°F (175Β°C).
  • Use a small spoon or scoop to drop small blobs of dough (about 1 tsp each) into the hot oil. Don’t overcrowd.

4. Fry Until Golden:

  • Fry 3–4 minutes until golden brown and puffed.
  • They may flip on their own, or you can turn them for even cooking.

5. Drain and Dust:

  • Remove and drain on paper towels.
  • Dust with powdered sugar or toss in cinnamon sugar while warm.
