Keto Savory Cabbage Pie
Ingredients:
For the Crust:
- 1 ½ cups almond flour
- ¼ cup coconut flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 large egg
- 4 tbsp butter, melted
For the Filling:
- 1 small head of cabbage, shredded
- 1 lb ground beef or ground turkey
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp paprika
- ½ tsp dried thyme
- ½ tsp dried oregano
- ½ cup heavy cream
- ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese
Instructions:
- Prepare the Crust:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a mixing bowl, combine the almond flour, coconut flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Add the egg and melted butter to the dry ingredients. Mix until a dough forms.
- Press the dough evenly into the bottom and up the sides of a greased 9-inch pie dish. Set aside.
- Prepare the Filling:
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, sauté until fragrant and translucent.
- Add the ground beef or turkey to the skillet. Cook until browned, breaking up the meat into crumbles as it cooks.
- Stir in the shredded cabbage and cook until the cabbage begins to soften, about 5-7 minutes.
- Season with salt, pepper, paprika, dried thyme, and dried oregano. Mix well.
- Pour in the heavy cream and stir until combined. Let the mixture simmer for another 2-3 minutes.
- Remove the skillet from the heat and stir in the shredded cheddar cheese.
- Assemble the Pie:
- Pour the filling into the prepared pie crust, spreading it out evenly.
- Bake:
- Place the pie dish in the preheated oven.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is set.
- Serve:
- Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before slicing.
