Keto Savory Cabbage Pie

Ingredients:

For the Crust:

  • 1 ½ cups almond flour
  • ¼ cup coconut flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 large egg
  • 4 tbsp butter, melted

For the Filling:

  • 1 small head of cabbage, shredded
  • 1 lb ground beef or ground turkey
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • ½ tsp dried thyme
  • ½ tsp dried oregano
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Crust:
    • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
    • In a mixing bowl, combine the almond flour, coconut flour, baking powder, and salt.
    • Add the egg and melted butter to the dry ingredients. Mix until a dough forms.
    • Press the dough evenly into the bottom and up the sides of a greased 9-inch pie dish. Set aside.
  2. Prepare the Filling:
    • Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
    • Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, sauté until fragrant and translucent.
    • Add the ground beef or turkey to the skillet. Cook until browned, breaking up the meat into crumbles as it cooks.
    • Stir in the shredded cabbage and cook until the cabbage begins to soften, about 5-7 minutes.
    • Season with salt, pepper, paprika, dried thyme, and dried oregano. Mix well.
    • Pour in the heavy cream and stir until combined. Let the mixture simmer for another 2-3 minutes.
    • Remove the skillet from the heat and stir in the shredded cheddar cheese.
  3. Assemble the Pie:
    • Pour the filling into the prepared pie crust, spreading it out evenly.
  4. Bake:
    • Place the pie dish in the preheated oven.
    • Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is set.
  5. Serve:
    • Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before slicing.
