Keto Doritos Ground Beef Salad
Ingredients
For the “Doritos”-style seasoning:
- 1 tsp chili powder
- 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp cumin
- 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (optional, for heat)
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
For the salad:
- 1 lb (450g) ground beef
- 1 tbsp olive oil or avocado oil
- 1/4 cup diced onions
- 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 4 cups chopped lettuce (romaine or iceberg)
- 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
- 1/2 cup diced cucumber
- 1/4 cup sliced black olives (optional)
- 1 avocado, diced
- 1/4 cup sour cream (for topping)
- 1/4 cup salsa (sugar-free, if available)
Optional: Keto tortilla chips for crunch
You can make or buy keto-friendly tortilla chips, or use crushed pork rinds as a substitute.
Instructions
- Prepare the seasoning
Mix all the spices for the “Doritos”-style seasoning in a small bowl and set aside. - Cook the ground beef
- Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat.
- Add diced onions and sauté until translucent.
- Add ground beef, breaking it into small pieces as it cooks.
- Once browned, sprinkle the seasoning over the beef and stir well. Cook for another 2–3 minutes. Remove from heat.
- Assemble the salad
- In a large bowl, layer the chopped lettuce, tomatoes, cucumber, and black olives.
- Top with the cooked ground beef and shredded cheddar cheese.
- Add toppings
- Add diced avocado, a dollop of sour cream, and a drizzle of salsa on top.
- If using keto tortilla chips or pork rinds, crush them slightly and sprinkle on top for crunch.
- Serve and enjoy
Mix the salad just before eating to distribute all the flavors evenly.
