Keto Doritos Ground Beef Salad

Ingredients

For the “Doritos”-style seasoning:

  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp cumin
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (optional, for heat)
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper

For the salad:

  • 1 lb (450g) ground beef
  • 1 tbsp olive oil or avocado oil
  • 1/4 cup diced onions
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 4 cups chopped lettuce (romaine or iceberg)
  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 1/2 cup diced cucumber
  • 1/4 cup sliced black olives (optional)
  • 1 avocado, diced
  • 1/4 cup sour cream (for topping)
  • 1/4 cup salsa (sugar-free, if available)

Optional: Keto tortilla chips for crunch

You can make or buy keto-friendly tortilla chips, or use crushed pork rinds as a substitute.


Instructions

  1. Prepare the seasoning
    Mix all the spices for the “Doritos”-style seasoning in a small bowl and set aside.
  2. Cook the ground beef
    • Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat.
    • Add diced onions and sauté until translucent.
    • Add ground beef, breaking it into small pieces as it cooks.
    • Once browned, sprinkle the seasoning over the beef and stir well. Cook for another 2–3 minutes. Remove from heat.
  3. Assemble the salad
    • In a large bowl, layer the chopped lettuce, tomatoes, cucumber, and black olives.
    • Top with the cooked ground beef and shredded cheddar cheese.
  4. Add toppings
    • Add diced avocado, a dollop of sour cream, and a drizzle of salsa on top.
    • If using keto tortilla chips or pork rinds, crush them slightly and sprinkle on top for crunch.
  5. Serve and enjoy
    Mix the salad just before eating to distribute all the flavors evenly.
