Italian Crescent Casserole
Ingredients:-
- 1 pound lean ground turkey or chicken
- 1 can (15 ounces) tomato sauce
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 can reduced-fat crescent roll dough
- 1 1/2 cups part-skim shredded mozzarella cheese
- Optional: Chopped vegetables like bell peppers, onions, or mushrooms
Instructions:-
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a baking dish.
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground turkey or chicken until it’s no longer pink. Drain any excess fat.
- Add the tomato sauce, oregano, basil, garlic powder, salt, pepper, and any optional vegetables to the skillet. Simmer the mixture for about 5-7 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together. Remove from heat.
- Unroll the crescent roll dough and press it into the bottom of the prepared baking dish, creating a crust. Make sure to press the seams together to seal them.
- Spread the meat sauce evenly over the crescent roll crust.
- Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese on top of the meat sauce.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until the crescent roll crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbly.
