Home Made Strawberry Crisp

Ingredients

For the filling:

  • 4 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

For the topping:

  • 1 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8×8-inch baking dish.
  2. Prepare the filling: In a large bowl, combine the sliced strawberries, granulated sugar, cornstarch, lemon juice, and vanilla extract. Mix until the strawberries are evenly coated. Pour the strawberry mixture into the prepared baking dish.
  3. Make the topping: In a separate bowl, mix together the rolled oats, flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Pour the melted butter over the mixture and stir until well combined and crumbly.
  4. Assemble the crisp: Evenly sprinkle the oat topping over the strawberry filling.
  5. Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the strawberry filling is bubbling.
  6. Cool and serve: Allow the strawberry crisp to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy it warm, perhaps with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream.
