Garlic and Butter Flatbread Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 3/4 cup warm water
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)
  • Salt flakes or sea salt, for sprinkling

Instructions:

  1. Preparation:
    • Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
    • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Mixing the Dough:
    • In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, salt, sugar, and baking powder.
    • Gradually add the warm water and olive oil, stirring until a dough forms.
    • Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead for about 5 minutes, until smooth and elastic.
  3. Shaping the Flatbread:
    • Divide the dough into 4 equal portions.
    • Roll out each portion into a thin circle or oval shape, about 1/4 inch thick.
  4. Cooking the Flatbread:
    • In a skillet over medium-high heat, melt 1 tablespoon of butter.
    • Add a portion of the rolled-out dough to the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side, until golden brown and cooked through.
    • Repeat with the remaining portions of dough, adding more butter to the skillet as needed.
  5. Garlic Butter Topping:
    • In a small saucepan, melt the remaining butter over medium heat.
    • Add the minced garlic and cook for 1-2 minutes, until fragrant.
  6. Finishing Touches:
    • Brush the garlic butter mixture over the cooked flatbreads.
    • Sprinkle with chopped fresh parsley and salt flakes or sea salt.
    • Slice and serve warm.
