Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup warm water
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil (plus extra for brushing)
  • 3 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (optional)
  • A pinch of sea salt (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Make the Dough:
    • In a large bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt.
    • Add warm water and olive oil to the bowl. Mix until a dough forms. If it’s too sticky, add a little more flour, a tablespoon at a time, until you get a soft, smooth dough.
    • Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 3-5 minutes, until it becomes elastic and smooth.
    • Cover the dough with a damp towel and let it rest for 20-30 minutes.
  2. Prepare the Garlic Butter:
    • In a small bowl, combine the melted butter with minced garlic. Stir well, then set aside.
  3. Roll Out the Dough:
    • After the dough has rested, divide it into 4 equal portions.
    • Roll each portion into a ball and then flatten it with your hands or a rolling pin into a round shape about 1/4-inch thick.
  4. Cook the Flatbread:
    • Heat a skillet or griddle over medium-high heat. Lightly grease the surface with olive oil.
    • Place one piece of dough onto the skillet and cook for 1-2 minutes on each side, or until golden brown spots appear and it puffs up a bit.
    • Repeat with the remaining pieces of dough.
  5. Add Garlic Butter:
    • As soon as the flatbread is cooked, brush each piece with the garlic butter mixture. Sprinkle with chopped parsley (optional) and a pinch of sea salt, if desired.
  6. Serve:
    • Serve the garlic and butter flatbreads warm. They’re great on their own or as a side to dips, curries, or pasta dishes.

Enjoy your flavorful, buttery flatbread!
