INGREDIENTS
- 1 pound 80/20 ground chuck (beef)
- kosher salt
- fresh ground black pepper
- 6 cheddar cheese slices (alternatively, you can use another type of cheese)
- 6 hamburger buns
- Toppings: lettuce, tomatoes, onion, ketchup, mustard, pickle relish
INSTRUCTIONS
- Preheat the flat-top griddle to high heat. Alternatively, you can use a cast iron skillet.
- Divide beef into 6 equal portions, about 2 to 3 ounces each.
- Roll each portion into a ball.
- Place meat on the hot flat-top griddle and smash with a large metal spatula.
- Season generously with salt and pepper.
- Cook smash burgers until browned, about 1-2 minutes.
- Flip and top with a slice of cheddar cheese.
- Continue cooking until the edges and bottom of the smash burgers are browned, about 1 minute.
- Serve smash burgers with your favorite toppings and enjoy.
