INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 loaf of Italian bread (or any large, crusty bread)
  • 2 tablespoons of olive oil
  • 3 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 cup of pizza sauce (store-bought or homemade)
  • 2 cups of shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Your choice of pizza toppings such as pepperoni, sliced bell peppers, onions, mushrooms, olives, etc.
  • Fresh basil (for garnish)
  • Red pepper flakes (optional, for garnish)

KITCHEN TOOLS:

  • Baking sheet
  • Aluminum foil (optional, for easier cleanup)
  • Knife
  • Spoon or brush for spreading sauce
  • Oven

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Preheat the Oven:
    • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). If you’re using a baking stone, place it in the oven now to heat up as well.
  2. Prepare the Garlic Bread Base:
    • Cut the loaf of bread in half lengthwise, then place each half on a baking sheet, cut side up.
    • In a small bowl, mix together the olive oil and minced garlic. Brush or spoon this mixture evenly over the cut sides of the bread.
  3. Add Pizza Sauce:
    • Spread a layer of pizza sauce over each garlic-oiled bread half. Use as much or as little as you like, but remember, too much sauce can make the bread soggy.
  4. Add Cheese and Toppings:
    • Sprinkle a generous amount of shredded mozzarella cheese over the sauce.
    • Add your chosen toppings. Distribute them evenly to ensure every bite is flavorful.
  5. Bake the Garlic Bread Pizza:
    • Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven.
    • Bake for 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown, and the edges of the bread are crispy.
  6. Garnish and Serve:
    • Once out of the oven, let it cool for a couple of minutes.
    • Garnish with fresh basil leaves and a sprinkle of red pepper flakes for an extra kick, if desired.
    • Cut into slices and serve hot.
