Easy Blender Rice Balls
Ingredients:
- 2 cups cooked rice (white or brown)
- 1/4 cup water or vegetable broth
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar (optional)
- 1 teaspoon sugar (optional)
- Fillings of your choice (e.g., cooked salmon, tuna, pickled plum, avocado, cucumber, etc.)
- Nori seaweed sheets, cut into strips (optional, for wrapping)
Instructions:
- Prepare Rice: If you haven’t already, cook your rice according to package instructions. Let it cool slightly before using.
- Blend Ingredients: In a blender or food processor, combine the cooked rice, water or broth, soy sauce, sesame oil, rice vinegar, and sugar. Blend until the mixture forms a sticky dough-like consistency. You may need to stop and scrape down the sides of the blender occasionally.
- Form Balls: Take a small amount of the rice mixture (about the size of a golf ball) and flatten it in the palm of your hand. Place a small amount of your chosen filling in the center. Carefully fold the rice around the filling to form a ball. Repeat until all the rice mixture is used, varying the fillings as desired.
- Optional: Wrap with Nori: If you like, you can wrap each rice ball with a strip of nori seaweed. This adds flavor and makes them easier to handle.
- Serve: Your easy blender rice balls are now ready to enjoy! You can eat them immediately or refrigerate them for later. They’re great as a snack, appetizer, or part of a bento box lunch.
