Ingredients:
- 6 cups of cubed bread (stale bread works best)
- 2 cups of milk
- 3 eggs
- 1/2 cup of granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon of ground nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon of salt
- Optional: raisins, chocolate chips, or nuts for extra flavor
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a baking dish or casserole dish with butter or cooking spray.
- Place the cubed bread in the prepared baking dish.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt until well combined.
- If using, sprinkle raisins, chocolate chips, or nuts over the bread cubes in the baking dish.
- Pour the milk mixture over the bread cubes, ensuring that all the bread is evenly soaked.
- Let the bread pudding sit for about 15-20 minutes to allow the bread to absorb the liquid.
- Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 45-55 minutes, or until the pudding is set and the top is golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and let it cool slightly before serving.
- Serve warm, optionally with a drizzle of caramel sauce, whipped cream, or a sprinkle of powdered sugar.
